memoirs, art and fragments by Thomas Milner

Age

Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.

Samuel Ullman (1840-1924 author of the poem Youth, written at the age of 78)

  1. Wonderful!

I think this may have to go to the top of my list of fa ourite quotes ๐Ÿ™‚

Its weird how something as simple as this quote can have such a profound impact. For example, a few years ago, I would have probably looked at it and merely said “yes, true” and then tottered off on my merry way. But now, when facing a chronic condition that is doing its very best to age me before I am ready (I will never be ready!!) then this means so much more. It is worthy of printing out, decorating with pictures of flowers and placing where I can see it every day ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks Tom
